The 13th season of The Bachelorette premiered on May 22, 2017. The season featured 31-year-old Rachel Lindsay, an attorney.

She first appeared on the 21st season of The Bachelor, where she was rejected by Nick Viall.

She ultimately chose Bryan Abasolo and accepted his proposal.

Filming and development[]

For the first time in Bachelor history, the next Bachelorette was revealed while her season of The Bachelor was still airing and she had yet to be eliminated. Rachel is also the first African-American Bachelor/Bachelorette in the show's history.

On May 18, 2017, Rachel spoiled, via a conference call, that she is engaged. It is the first time that the star of a Bachelor franchise reveals the seasons outcome before it has even begun.

Destinations for this season were South Carolina, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and Spain, with appearances including actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, former NBA player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, actress and television host Ellen DeGeneres and country singer Russell Dickerson.

Casting and contestants[]

The details surrounding this season were kept under wraps. Unlike previous seasons, no informations about the men were released until four days before the premiere.

This season's cast includes pro wrestler Kenny Layne.

During the season 21 After the Final Rose show, Rachel got to meet four of the men vying for her heart; DeMario, Blake, Dean and Eric.

Six of the men were also revealed when they appeared on date a date during a taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"; Fred, Alex, Jonathan, Bryan, Will and Peter.

The season began with 31 contestants.

Future appearances[]

DeMario Jackson, Dean Unglert, Diggy Moreland, Matt Munson, Iggy Rodriguez, Jack Stone, Jonathan Treece, Fred Johnson, Blake Elarbee, and Adam Gottschalk participated in the 4th season of Bachelor in Paradise. DeMario quit in week 1. Iggy was eliminated in week 1. Matt quit in week 2. Fred and Blake were eliminated in Week 3. Dean, Jonathan, and Diggy split in week 5. Adam was a co-winner.

Dean Unglert competed in The Bachelor Winter Games.

Rachel takes eight lucky guys to a backyard barbecue in Malibu where Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis help with a husband material obstacle course. Later, Rachel invites one bachelor to a Palm Springs dog festival; and 10 men spend the day with NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. At the cocktail party, an unwelcome guest crashes the event and asks to see Rachel.
3 "Week 3" June 5, 2017
Six lucky guys go on a group date to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where they strip and dance to raise money for charity. Later, Rachel takes one bachelor on a horseback ride down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills to go shopping; and Rachel's friends surprise her with a mud wrestling competition between eight bachelors in front of a rambunctious crowd.

Rachel and the guys head to Hilton Head Island, S.C., where one bachelor struggles with a fear of heights on the Goodyear Blimp. Later, Rachel and her date attend a private concert by Russell Dickerson; and the guys participate in a spelling bee.
5 "Week 5" June 26, 2017
Rachel and a handsome suitor embrace the oyster culture of Bluffton, S.C. After the rose ceremony, Rachel and the remaining bachelors head to Oslo, Norway, where she and one lucky guy rappel down a giant Olympic ski jump. Later, Rachel takes bitter rivals on the dreaded two-on-one date.
6 "Week 6" June 27, 2017
Rachel sends one man home from the two-on-one date. After the rose ceremony, Rachel and the remaining bachelors travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, where a group of guys take part in spirited Viking-style games. Later, Rachel takes one lucky suitor on a day trip to Sweden, before she and the men travel Geneva, Switzerland.
7 "Week 7" July 10, 2017
Rachel and the six remaining bachelors visit Geneva, Switzerland, where roses are handed out on three individual dates and one group date. Rachel takes Bryan shopping and Peter on a helicopter flight over the Swiss Alps. Adam, Eric and Matt go on a boat ride to a stunning castle where they try to win Rachel's favor.
8 "Week 8: Hometowns" July 17, 2017
Rachel returns to the U.S. and goes on four hometown dates where she meets the parents of the final four bachelors. After the revealing visits, Rachel realizes she is falling in love with all four men and must make an impossible decision to send home someone she can't imagine living without.

Rachel heads home to Dallas with the final three men so they can meet her family. While there, one man shares his reservations with Rachel's mom, and another is grilled about his sincerity. Later, Rachel takes the guys to Spain for romantic overnight dates.

Rachel and her most memorable men return to discuss their experiences. Included: Lee and Kenny set the record straight about their volatile relationship; Blake and Lucas come face-to-face; and Adam talks about being sent home before the hometown visits.

Rachel and Bryan were married August 24, 2019, at the Royalton Suites Cancún in Mexico.

Adam Gottschalk is engaged to Raven Gates from the 21st season of The Bachelor. They met on the 4th season of Bachelor in Paradise.

William Gaskins got engaged to Alexis Moore on August 2, 2019.
