The 19th season of The Bachelor premiered on January 5, 2015. The season featured 33-year-old Chris Soules, a farmer from Arlington, Iowa.

Soules placed third on the 10th season of The Bachelorette featuring Andi Dorfman.

He ultimately chose to propose to Whitney Bischoff.

Filming and development[]

Casting and contestants[]

Casting began during the 18th season of The Bachelor. Soules and Arie Luyendyk Jr. were the candidates for the next bachelor. On August 26, 2014, Soules was chosen as a fan favorite and was first announced on Good Morning America.

One of the season's contestants, Carly Waddell, is the sister of The Bachelorette season 9 contestant Zak Waddell.

Production[]

Unlike previous seasons, this season premiered with a three-hour live episode. Its locales included San Francisco, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Deadwood, South Dakota, Des Moines, Iowa, and the Indonesian island of Bali. Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel took over for one episode in week three and there was a performance from Big & Rich in week six.

Future appearances[]

Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe were both chosenfor the 11th season of The Bachelorette, in the end, Bristowe was chosen for the lead role.

Ashley Salter was signed up for the 2nd season of Bachelor in Paradise and agreed to join the cast. Along with Salter, Ashley Iaconetti, Carly Waddell, Jade Roper, Jillian Anderson, Juelia Kinney, Megan Bell, Amber James, Samantha Steffen and Mackenzie Deonigi all returned in that season as well. Anderson was the first one eliminated placing 29th, while Bell was eliminated in 23/24th. Kinney quit in 20th, Iaconetti quit in 18th, Deonigi quit in 16th, Salter and James were eliminated in 11th/14th, and Waddell placed in 9th/10th. Roper and Steffen finished as co-winners with Bachelor Nation alumni Tanner Tolbert and Nick Peterson.

Amber James returned for the 20th season of The Bachelor with runner-up Becca Tilley as a part of the cast for that season. James finished in 12th/13th and Tilley finished in 5th.

Season 19 begins with Iowa farmer and fan favorite Chris Soules meeting 30 bachelorettes vying for his attention and for the first impression rose. At the rose ceremony, eight unlucky ladies are sent home.
2 "Week 2" January 12, 2015
Chris takes six lucky ladies on the first group date. They attend a rooftop pool party and a tractor race on the streets of Los Angeles. Later, Chris takes a bachelorette on the first one-on-one date with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Next, eleven ladies join Chris for a crazy paintball shootout with zombies. At the rose ceremony, four women are sent home.
3 "Week 3: Guest Host Jimmy Kimmel" January 19, 2015
Jimmy Kimmel guest hosts and helps Chris narrow down his options from the 18 remaining women. Also: Chris and a wisecracking bachelorette throw Kimmel a dinner party; some ladies take part in a farm-themed rely race; and Chris and a date crash a wedding.
4 "Week 4" January 26, 2015
Chris spends the day with eight ladies at a beach. Meanwhile, Chris' three sisters interview the other seven bachelorettes at the mansion and reward one lucky gal with a one-on-one date with Chris to attend a concert and a screening of "Cinderella." Later, Chris takes six women to San Francisco for a mud run in wedding dresses.
5 "Week 5: Santa Fe" February 2, 2015
Chris takes the 11 remaining women to Sante Fe, N.M. While there, one bachelorette meets a "love guru" and nine ladies go rafting on the Rio Grande River. At a party, a woman from Chris' past makes an unwelcome visit; and Chris takes a leading contender on a hot air balloon ride.
6 "Week 6: Deadwood" February 9, 2015
Chris takes the nine remaining ladies to Deadwood, S.D., where he takes one of them on a romantic horseback ride. Six bachelorettes meet country singers Big and Rich, and write love songs with the duo, and one lucky lady gets to attend a Big and Rich concert with Chris.
7 "Chris Tells All" February 15, 2015
In this one-hour special entitled Chris Tells All, Chris discusses his memorable moments on this season and thoughts with the bachelorettes. Also, Kelsey reflects on her experiences during the season, and former Bachelorette Andi Dorfman discusses her breakup with Josh.
8 "Week 7: Iowa" February 15, 2015
Chris takes the remaining six women to Iowa where one lucky lady accompanies Chris to his hometown to watch a high school football game. Later, some of the women take a spontaneous road trip to Chris' hometown and see how small it really is.
9 "Week 8: Hometowns" February 16, 2015
Chris visits the hometowns and families of the final four ladies, where candid conversations take place and secrets are revealed. At the rose ceremony, one heartbroken woman is sent home.
10 "Week 9: Bali" February 23, 2015
Chris and the final three ladies travel to the island of Bali in Indonesia where secrets are revealed in the fantasy suite. At the rose ceremony, Chris sends one unsuspecting woman home in tears.
11 "The Women Tell All" March 2, 2015
Chris Soules faces 17 of the bachelorettes he rejected, including the latest one he sent home heartbroken. Also: bloopers from the season; and a preview of Chris' emotional final days in his journey to find true love.
12 "Week 10: Finale" March 9, 2015
Chris returns to Iowa with the final two ladies. He introduces them to his family and struggles to decide which woman, if either, he should offer the season's final rose.
13 "After the Final Rose" March 9, 2015
There is a live finale viewing party and then the "After the Final Rose" follows. Chris Harrison begins the show by hyping up a surprise that Chris has in store for all of the viewers, including himself.

Chris Harrison puts Becca on the hot seat first. He asks her questions about the final rose ceremony and how she is doing now. She has a chance to talk Chris again.

Next, Whitney is on the hot seat and gave interviews about her relationship with Chris, she told Harrison that the couple have a strong romantic bond since their engagement, and she and Chris seen together for the first time in public appearance, meaning they became more happy. Then, Whitney talks about Arlington and knows the distance is not quite far from Chicago. There is a video clip showing after the proposal, Chris' parents came to the barn with a big congratulations for the newly-engaged couple.

Ashley S., who was eliminated in week 4, was asked by Harrison to appear for the second season of Bachelor in Paradise. She didn't give a complete answer.

Harrison resumes to talk with Whitney and asks about Iowa and being a part of Chris' family. Afterwards, Jimmy Kimmel arrives at the studio and surprises them with a cow named Juan Pablo. At the end of the show, Harrison announced that there would be two bachelorettes on the next season of The Bachelorette. Kaitlyn and Britt will both appear on the first episode, where the 25 men will decide who they want to be the bachelorette.

Where are they now?[]

Chris and Whitney ended their relationship shortly after their 6 months anniversary.

On July 22, 2016, Whitney got engaged to Ricky Angel, a regional sales manager based out of her native Chicago. They were married on October 21, 2017. On February 26, 2019, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Whitney was already 7 months pregnant. Their son, Hayes Singleton, was born on May 6, 2019.

In early 2016, Jade married Tanner Tolbert from season 11 of The Bachelorette. They met on the 2nd season of Bachelor in Paradise. Their wedding was documented on a special episode of the 20h season of The Bachelor. Jade has taken Tanner's last name and now goes by Jade Tolbert. On March 8, 2017, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child. On May 4, 2017, they revealed that they are having a girl. On August 17, 2017, they welcomed their new daughter, Emerson Avery Tolbert. On January 28, 2019, they announced that they are expecting their second child. On March 11, 2019, they revealed that they are having a boy. Their son, Brooks Easton, was born on July 29, 2019.

Ashley Salter married her college sweetheart Austin Brannen on September 10, 2016. They have two children, son Brooks, who was born on April 7, 2016 and daughter Kennedy, who was born in March 2020.

Becca Tilley briefly dated Robert Graham from the 9th season of The Bachelorette.

Kaitlyn and Britt went on to co-star on the 11th season of The Bachelorette, however, Britt was voted off on the first night.

Kaitlyn was engaged to Shawn Booth whom she met on that season. They ended their relationship in October 2018. She is currently dating Jason Tartick from the 14th season of The Bachelorette.

Britt briefly dated Brady whom she on that season. On May 24, 2017, Britt announced that she is now engaged to her boyfriend Jeremy Byrne. They got married on September 9, 2017. On December 14, 2019, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Noa Ellis Joy, was born on June 23, 2020.

Carly Waddell is now married to Evan Bass whom she met on the 3rd season of Bachelor in Paradise. On August 7, 2017, they announced that they are expecting their first child. Their daughter, Isabella Evelyn “Bella”, was born on February 15, 2018. On May 9, 2019, they announced that they are expecting their second child. Their son, Charles Wolfe "Charlie", was born on November 12, 2019.

On April 24, 2017, Chris Soules was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal truck/tractor accident in Aurora, Iowa that left a 66-year-old Iowa man dead. Soules, who was driving a truck that rear-ended a tractor about 15 miles south of Soules' farm in Arlington, Iowa, was not charged with driving under the influence. On May 8, 2017, he was formally charged with "hit and run, resulting in death". He faces up to five years in prison if found guilty. His arraignment is set for Tuesday, May 23. The trial date is set for January 18, 2018.

Ashley Iaconetti began a relationship with Kevin Wendt whom she met on The Bachelor Winter Games. They broke up shortly after the show ended. In May 2018, she announced that she was dating Jared Haibon. They got engaged on June 17, 2018, in Mexico, while filming for the 5th season of Bachelor in Paradise. They were married on August 11, 2019 in Rhode Island.

Juelia Kinney got engaged to Aaron Bass, brother of Evan Bass, on July 25, 2018. On July 15, 2020, they announced that they are expecting their first child.

Jillian Anderson got engaged to Mike King on June 13, 2019.
