The 6th season of The Bachelor premiered on September 22, 2004. The show featured 39-year-old Byron Velvick, a professional bass fisherman.
For the first time ever, two Bachelors appear during the first episode. The women competing had to vote on which man they would like to be the bachelor. Velvick ended up winning the vote.
He ultimately chose to propose to Mary Delgado.
